Back at the start of 2014 when Lab Class was just starting out, we hadn’t even finished unpacking the boxes in the studio when two guys walked in and started telling us about their prototype for a new supplements mixer. They then went onto pitch their idea for a kickstarter campaign and asked us to create the video that would convince people to back them….no pressure. Anyway we took on the challenge and within 24 hours the campaign had exceeded their target of £30,000

and by the end of the campaign they had more than doubled that with pledges totalling over £66, 000.  Fast forward two years and the promixx boys had moved onto the next phase; Miixr. Once again we took on the challenge only this time we knew we had to up our game from the last video. We are very happy to say that we did not disappoint, not only did the campaign surpass it’s target in the first 24 hours but it brought in triple the original figure they had set out to achieve.

Visual Development

Promixx creative team had an idea of what they wanted to the video to include and provided us with a great script. We were then able to elaborate further and come back to them with some aesthetic guidelines and execution ideas for the campaign.

The music

Our Creative Director and Music Producer Warren Blackmore wrote and produced the soundtrack specifically for the MiiXR campaign. Have a listen below.

3d Modelling

Sanders Design provided the original 3d models result of the prototype designs already produced. Software such as Solidworks working with CAD systems aren’t compatible out of the box with software like Maya 3d or Cinema 4d. So we had to translate all nurbs information to polygon based data and remodel some of the assembles.

Shading & Lighting

Every material in real life has its own properties and the way we see them is defined by how the light is being cast on its surface. We try to reproduce this with 3d techniques, Shading and lighting are codependent. Different render engines use different mathematics calculations to solve or interpret light and how it interacts with objects.
